Newcastle United Foundation have launched their #BeAGameChanger campaign to highlight to football fans the impact of mental health issues in today’s society and offer support.  This is a highly relevant topic, particularly in the North East which had the highest rate of suicide in the UK in 2017.  Statistically, 1 in 4 of us will experience a mental health problem every year; suicide is the second most common cause of death of 5-19 year olds and the biggest killer of men aged under 49; every day 12 men commit suicide.

The more we talk about mental health, the more acceptable it becomes and the easier people find it to open up. When people with mental health problems feel comfortable to open up and honest about their experiences, it becomes easier for them to seek help when they are feeling unwell. The earlier a person gets help the more likely they are to recover.

Catalyst4 PSM fully support the #BeAGameChanger campaign and will be directing our clients and colleagues to the Newcastle United Foundation’s dedicated website and Facebook community group for support.
